OCEAN SERIES

The Ocean Series started as an investigation into portraying the experience of the ocean; the feel of the wind, the taste of the salt and my awe of the water. But as the project developed the pieces took on a different meaning. The collages became more rough and textured transforming the photographs into more poignant and dynamic pieces. As I come to them now, I can see the unease and concern that I felt about current events while making them influenced not only my pieces but the process. These works bear the marks of rice shortages, currency collapses, cyclones, and global climate change.
