MAKE YOUR MARK
In 2016, Patrice Dworkin and I invited thirty six women and girls to collaborate with us in expressing the idea of women making their mark in the world. The text and drawings they offered, each 4x4 inches, have been reproduced, deconstructed, and transformed by us into twelve abstract pieces.
THE TRANSITION PROJECT
For THE TRANSITION PROJECT, Patrice and I addressed the loss of a relationship, and its impact on the collaborative process, resulting in 48 8"x 8" pieces. The completion of THE TRANSITION PROJECT took place in August of 2016 when we worked together in real time on CLOSURE (shown below), a nine- panel grid telling the story of their journey from displacement to acceptance.
THE DAPHNE PROJECT
THE DAPHNE PROJECT was created by Patrice Dworkin, Jackie Leishman, and Barbara Parmet. Our exploration of the Daphne myth evolved from conversations about freedom, flight, and the power of women's voices; women's sexuality and safety, the role of mother and the role of daughter. Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, as well as his Rape of Proserpina, were points of reference in the transformation of Daphne's story.
